Student Herbal Medicine Clinic
Individualized care. Shared learning. Experienced supervision.
We’re excited to introduce our monthly Student Herbal Medicine Clinic at Dancing Willow Wellness.
This is an opportunity to receive individualized herbal medicine care in a supportive, supervised clinical setting, while also making herbal medicine more accessible. Appointments are provided by advanced herbal medicine students who are now completing their supervised clinical internship to become Registered Herbalists through the Ontario Herbalists Association.
All students are supervised by Registered Herbalist Rebecca Graves, who will be present throughout the appointment process, providing guidance and oversight.

More info about the Student Herbal Medicine Clinic:
What does a Student Clinic appointment look like?
This is a little different from a typical herbal medicine appointment. A student will be assigned as your lead herbalist for your appointment, while the other students will be present to observe the appointment.
You will be asked for your consent to have the student group present, and you can request privacy during any part of the appointment if you prefer.
Your health information is treated confidentially and handled in accordance with PHIPA regulations.
Experienced herbalist Rebecca Graves is present throughout the appointment and reviews assessment and treatment recommendations.
What can you expect?
Your appointment begins with a thorough conversation about your health and your goals. Your lead student herbalist will ask about your current concerns, health history, medications and supplements, lifestyle, and other factors that may be relevant to your health.
Your appointment may also include physical assessment, such as taking vital signs, observing physical signs, or listening to the heart and lungs, when appropriate to your concerns.
From there, the students will work together to consider your health picture and develop individualized herbal medicine recommendations.
Your care may include recommendations for:
Herbal teas, tinctures, or other herbal preparations
Herbs to support specific symptoms or health concerns
Nutrition and lifestyle approaches
Follow-up care and monitoring
Who are the students?
The students in our clinic are advanced herbal medicine students who have completed the majority of their training. They are gaining supervised clinical hours to become Registered Herbalists through the Ontario Herbalists Association (OHA).
The clinic gives them an opportunity to apply their training in a real clinical setting, while giving clients access to individualized herbal medicine care at a reduced rate. We have a maximum of six students enrolled in the clinic program.

Can you treat children?
Yes, we are more than happy to help. Herbal medicine is gentle and safe for children and even babies.
What should I tell my herbalist?
It is important that you disclose all health issues that you have, even if you are not seeking treatment for them. This ensures that a medicine prepared for an acute condition does not exacerbate a chronic condition.
You must also inform your herbalist of all medications, herbs, and supplements you are taking, so we can avoid any potential unwanted interactions.
